VONA, Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation, Inc., is a 501c3 charitable organization and the only multi-genre workshop for writers of color in the United States. VONA brings together a community where participants’ work is centered and supported. It operates www.vonavoices.org.

VONA cares about your privacy. 

VONA will never sell your personal information that you share with us online, but we do use it and share it to operate our programs, events, and workshops. Here are the ways we use the data (e.g., names, address, email address) which you provide us via our website, www.vonavoices.org.

When you use our website(s).

VONA uses cookies and other tracking techniques to find out how many people are visiting the VONA website and to the types of information, articles, and programs that are of interest when they are browsing.

Sometimes VONA links to other websites and social media platforms from VonaVoices.org. VONA does not control what information is collected on those sites and those sites are governed by different privacy policies and practices. Users should review all of the privacy policies of the third party sites before continuing to use them.

When You Apply for Workshops and Events

VONA uses third-party software vendors (Submittable, MailChimp, Google Forms, Charitable, and PayPal) to communicate with the VONA community and manage the application process for our events. Some of the information you fill in on VONA workshop application forms is captured, stored, and managed on the servers of those third-party software vendors. Also, the information that you give us when you apply for one of our activities is shared with VONA workshop teachers, volunteers that help facilitate our workshops, and other facilitators. VONA uses third-party payment services to collect fees for our events–all personal data you input into either of these services stay with those service providers. When you sign up to receive communications from VONA

VONA uses a United States cloud-based email service to manage its email list. All information, including some personal information of VONA community members who are not in the U.S., will reside on servers inside the United States of America. When you sign up for the VONA email list, some personal information is sent to the email service where that information is stored. VONA will use that information to send our newsletter and other event communications directly to your inbox. In the future, we might use your information to send you targeted information, like announcing VONA regional workshop or fundraising events.  

You can opt out of our email list at any time by using the link at the bottom of the email we send you or by visiting our website www.vonavoices.org.

Sharing Your Information with Others

From time to time we may share your information with our partners. Those could be teachers for our workshops and classes, other writing workshops and seminars, vendors, and other VONA community members that help us run our programs and fundraising events.

Requesting and Deleting Your Personal Information

At any time you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
