Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation Returns to Miami
VOICES OF OUR NATIONS ARTS FOUNDATION — VONA — the premier organization dedicated to lifting the voices of underrepresented populations through creative collaboration and community building, extends a warm invitation to BIPOC writers to submit applications for our Summer Workshops and Residencies. The deadline is Saturday, April 1st.
VONA was founded to provide a supportive space for writers of color. For more than 20 years, our esteemed faculty have nurtured and mentored emerging voices, with over 2,500 writers from around the world participating in our acclaimed programs. This multi-genre series allows BIPOC writers to explore elements of craft, issues of culture, works of social justice, and practices of literary production.
This year, students have the option of attending in person in Miami, FL, from June 25 – July 1, or joining us for a virtual week of intensive reflection and study from July 2 – 8.
Our 2023 faculty continue a long tradition of success and giving back, pushing boundaries and welcoming others to join them on the path. They are acclaimed writers across a variety of genres, including humor, politics, poetry, travel and writing for both stage and screen.z If accepted, you’ll become part of our unique VONA family. Our esteemed alumni include Natalie Baszile, Dickson Lam, Anu Taranath, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Kali Fajardo-Anstine, and Melissa Rivero. We invite you to join us and begin a lifelong relationship where we celebrate and cherish your growth and accomplishments.
