The premier multi-genre workshop for BIPOC Writers, VONA is a Home where writers of color come to hone their craft and be in community.

Each summer VONA gathers esteemed faculty to work with emerging writers of color to explore elements of craft, issues of culture, works of social justice and practices of literary production.  VONA’s founders created the workshops for those underserved and unable to find writing communities of color outside of academic institutions.  We continue to uphold and create space for all BIPOC writers of color whose writing samples demonstrate a story in need of telling and a voice deserving of mentorship regardless of the writer’s publications or degrees.

Application Guidelines

Applicants should submit either writing samples of either poetry (5-10 poems, not to exceed 15 pages) or prose (up to 3,750 words or 15 pages double-spaced). Writing samples may be published or unpublished. Click here to apply.
